Jobbannons

Are you a specialist in emergency medicine interested in new professional experiences in Ireland?

On behalf of hospitals in Ireland, we are recruiting emergency medicine specialists for positions lasting 12 or 24 months, with the possibility of extension. This is a valuable opportunity for doctors who want to develop professionally in a new healthcare system while gaining international experience in an English-speaking environment.

The role is well suited for physicians who enjoy a fast-paced clinical setting, a wide range of medical cases, and the chance to combine work with new cultural and life experiences. For the right candidate, this can also be an attractive opportunity to experience life as a travel doctor while exploring Ireland’s unique culture, landscapes and lifestyle.

About the position

As an emergency medicine specialist, you will play a key role in the emergency department and contribute to high-quality patient care in a busy and varied clinical environment. The role combines clinical responsibilities with supervision, collaboration, and service development.

Typical responsibilities

  • Assessment, diagnosis and treatment of acutely ill and injured patients
  • Clinical leadership in the emergency department in collaboration with other specialists
  • Management of both medical emergencies and trauma cases in adults, and in some departments also children
  • Supervision and follow-up of patients in observation units where available
  • Supervision and guidance of doctors in training, interns and other healthcare professionals
  • Multidisciplinary collaboration with nurses, radiographers, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals
  • Contributing to patient safety initiatives, quality improvement and professional development within the department
  • Participation in emergency preparedness and management of major incidents when required

We are looking for candidates who

  • Are specialists in emergency medicine
  • Hold medical authorisation and specialist recognition from an EU/EEA country
  • Have completed specialist training in a country whose qualifications are recognised for specialist registration in Ireland (currently Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Slovenia or Slovakia)
  • Have a genuine interest in working within a new healthcare system and adapting to a different clinical environment
  • Have excellent English language skills, both spoken and written
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with patients, relatives and colleagues
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment with a wide variety of clinical cases and close interdisciplinary collaboration

We offer

  • Contract for 12 or 24 months, with the possibility of extension
  • The opportunity to gain international clinical experience in an English-speaking healthcare system
  • Professional development in a specialty with broad clinical scope and high variation
  • Close guidance and support throughout the entire recruitment process
  • Assistance with registration, interviews and relocation
  • The opportunity for a short visit to Ireland, ideally together with your partner or family, to get to know the hospital and the area before making your decision

Salary

Competitive salary according to Irish hospital pay scales. Full details will be provided during the recruitment process.
