Jobbannons

On behalf of a municipality in the county of Vest-Agder in Southern Norway, we are seeking a specialist in family medicine who is looking for a stable work environment, broad clinical exposure and the opportunity to join a well-organized and supportive primary care team.

The GP office is one of several established practices in the municipality and hosts multiple list-holding doctors in a close-knit setting. The clinic is supported by experienced nurses and medical secretaries who ensure an efficient workflow, and the practice is well-equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment tools required for general practice.

You will collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals such as resident doctors, an infection control doctor, a municipal psychologist and the chief municipal medical officer. This provides excellent support and daily opportunities for clinical discussions, while you still work independently with your own patient list.

Primary healthcare services in the municipality include

  • Regular GP scheme (list-based system)
  • Intermunicipal out-of-hours emergency service
  • Work in maternal and child health clinics / school health services
  • Services connected to nursing homes and long-term care centers
  • Municipal emergency inpatient service

Your patients and responsibilities

  • You will take over an established and stable patient list of approximately 900 patients
  • Your list patients are prioritized, but you may also see non-listed patients if capacity allows
  • Allocation or change of GP lists is handled by HELFO according to national regulations
  • The practice has well-structured routines for patient enquiries, sampling, annual check-ups, and collaboration with other municipal health services
  • In addition to daytime work at the clinic, the position may include shifts at the intermunicipal out-of-hours service, located near a local hospital and staffed around the clock by nurses

Professional requirements

  • Medical license and specialist approval from an EU country
  • Specialist in family medicine, preferably with minimum two years of experience
  • Good communication skills in English, and motivated to learn Norwegian
  • Experience in pediatric medicine and infant check-ups
  • Experience in gynecological examinations in an office setting
  • Skilled in minor surgical procedures
  • Ability to handle a broad variety of patients and diagnoses independently
  • Class B driver’s license
  • A clean criminal record must be documented through a police certificate in accordance with the Health Personnel Act

The GP office offer

  • Salaried employment or self-employed GP contract; terms are agreed directly with the municipality.
  • Modern equipment and experienced support staff
  • Strong professional environment with supervision and collaboration from several municipal doctors
  • Excellent opportunities for continuous training and professional development
  • Municipal pension and welfare benefits

Benefits with Dignus Medical

  • Free online language courses with a private tutor to learn Norwegian
  • Assistance in obtaining Norwegian authorization
  • Relocation support for you and your family
  • Close follow-up from professional recruiters throughout the entire process
